Northern Ethiopia, Lalibela and Axum: April 2006 - In a single week this trip took us to some of Ethiopia's greatest historical treasures. Amanda, my brother, Daniel, and I drove from Mekelle to Lalibela to see its 11 rock hewn churches (a UNESCO World Heritage sight). From there we drove through the rugged northern highlands to Axum. Then completing the circle back to Mekele we stopped at the amazing monastary of Debre Damo.

England and the Three Peaks Challenge: July 2005 - More than just a fundraiser for my VSO placement, this endurance challenge was a great chance to get together with old friends, see the sights of London, eat Fish and chips, and spend Amanda's Marriott points.

Olympic National Park: May 2005 - Amanda and I made a trip to this national park while she was working in Salem, Oregon. Olympus Mountain is home to the lowest glacier in the lower 48 so we thought we would take a look by way of a trail through the Hoh temperate rainforest.

Yunnan, China: December 2004 - For my second trip to Southeast Asia, I decided to concentrate on Yunnan, China. It is home to amazing natural beauty, delicious food, and a variety of cities and cultures. It is also easy accessible from my brother's current homebase in Bangkok. I started in the capital Kunming and made it to the doorstep of Tibet.

Pacific Northwest Kayaking: June 2004 - Daniel and I headed to the San Juan Islands for a sea kayaking course before embarking on an 8-day self-guided tour of Misty Fiords National Monument near Ketchikan, Alaska. The course prepared us well and then Alaska delivered on giant Grizzlies, delicious trout, beautiful scenery, and dry, 90-degree afternoons in the temperate rainforest??

Glacier Park: August 2003 - I got together with friends and cousin, Britt to complete a classic hiking loop through arguably the most beautiful National Park in the United States.

Southeast Asia: December 2002 - A faltering economy allowed my to take this extended vacation through Southeast Asia. I started by hitting some highlights of Thailand and then slowing down through Laos. I met up with Amanda in Cambodia to see Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat. For the final two weeks I was able to get to Burma. It was amazing, but I wish I had had more time.
